Harkin, Senate Take On Bush Veto Threat By Overwhelmingly Passing Water Resources Development Act
Sept. 25, 2007 -- WASHINGTON, D.C. - Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) last night joined a bipartisan majority of Senators in passing the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2007. The legislation would provide much-needed funding and authority to the Army Corps of Engineers to make improvements to Upper Mississippi River transportation, while taking steps to restore the river's habitat and ecosystems.
