Louisiana Governor Jindal Announces More than $1 Billion for Coastal Protection and Restoration Projects

Aug 13, 2008 -- NEW ORLEANS – Today, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal announced plans for more than $1 billion in coastal protection and restoration projects in Louisiana. This announcement of projects today represents the largest investment in coastal protection programs in Louisiana history and includes $300 million in funding the Governor called for in his second special session of the legislature earlier in the year, $200 million in surplus funding from the 2007 legislative session, $510 million from the Coastal Impact Assistance Program, $83 million from the state trust fund/capital outlay and $68 million from the Coastal Wetlands Planning Protection and Restoration Act.    » read more »

State of Indiana Partners With Vigo County To Restore Wetlands

Terre Haute, Indiana (April 15, 2008) - Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels today announced that more than 1,200 acres of floodplain will be restored to wetlands and wildlife habitat thanks to a partnership between the state and Vigo County.

"Our efforts since 2005 have resulted in twice as many protected acres of wildlife habitat than in the previous five years. This joint effort will conserve another beautiful habitat as well as enhance the quality of life for Hoosiers," said Daniels.

Nebraska AG Bruning Provides Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District $75,000 for Invasive Species Removal

June 27, 2007 -- (Ogallala, NE) Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning today presented $75,000 to the Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District (CNPPID) for invasive species removal at Lake McConaughy.

The money was made available through the Attorney General’s Environmental Court Ordered Settlement Fund, a fund generated from voluntary payments collected in court-approved settlements from entities that have violated state and federal environmental regulations.    » read more »

Man Ordered to Pay $250,000 Fine, Restore Property

June 20, 2007 -- BOSTON – Today, a Mansfield, Massachusetts man and his company pleaded guilty to charges that they illegally altered, cleared and then filled in ecologically sensitive freshwater wetlands in Mansfield. Real estate developer Karl D. Clemmey, 68, of Mansfield and Quirk Trust, LLC, of which Clemmey is the resident agent, pleaded guilty to violating the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act (10 counts each).    » read more »
