Tropical Storm Olga Kills at Least 8 in Caribbean

12 December 2007 -- Tropical Storm Olga has claimed the lives of at least eight people as it lashed the Dominican Republic Wednesday.

The northern province of Santiago in the Caribbean nation was hardest hit, with heavy rains causing the Yaque River to overflow its banks. In addition to widespread flooding, the storm is being blamed for several landslides.    » read more »

December 10, 2007 -- Jefferson City, Mo. — Bursting pipes, downed trees, wrecked cars and high prices may be among the results of this weekend's ice storm, and Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon is reminding consumers to look out for law breakers and con artists.

Winter Storms Cause Flooding and Road Closures in Gila County, Arizona

Dec. 10 -- The series of winter storms that started last Friday are continuing to cause flooding in some areas of Gila County.

County roads in the Payson area are reopened at this time, however all crossings along the Tonto Creek in Tonto Basin will remain closed until further notice. In Roosevelt, Campaign Creek is still closed at Mesquite Street.

Major Storms Hit North America on Both Coasts

04 December 2007 -- National Guard troops in the northwest U.S. state of Oregon are evacuating residents in a flooded town, while thousands of residents in the region are without power.

A National Guard spokesman says troops are using boats to rescue residents caught in the floods in the towns of Vernonia and Chehalis.

Over the past two days, major storms along North America's Atlantic and Pacific coasts have led to the deaths of at least 10 people.
