Missouri will use $146 million in federal Recovery Act funds and $120 million in state funds on work to address aging wastewater and drinking water infrastructure

November 9, 2009 -- JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Missouri Governor Jay Nixon visited construction sites in Liberty and Springfield today to announce the Work Now initiative, which commits more than $260 million in federal and state funds to wastewater and drinking water construction projects in communities across Missouri. Gov. Nixon approved 60 of these drinking water and wastewater projects as appropriate for funding in letters to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa P. Jackson.    » read more »

NM Indian communities receive nearly $5 million for water improvements

July 8, 2009 -- WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Jeff Bingaman and Tom Udall today announced that six Native American communities in New Mexico will share nearly $5 million for water improvements. Funding comes from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act through the Environmental Protection Agency and the Indian Health Service.

“This nearly $5 million investment of stimulus funding will be used to improve water infrastructure in six communities in New Mexico. $134.3 million in economic recovery investments to improve water reclamation and reuse in the West

July 1, 2009 -- WASHINGTON, D.C. – Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar announced today that the Bureau of Reclamation has identified 27 water reclamation and reuse projects that will share in a total of $134.3 million under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).

These water projects – known as “Title XVI” projects for the title of Public Law 102-575 that established the program – facilitate the reclamation and reuse of wastewater and naturally impaired ground and surface waters.    » read more »

June 22, 2009 -- WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) announced today that he worked to secure a total of $1.85 million in funding for projects contained in the Fiscal Year 2010 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill. Billings, Montana Water and Wastewater Treatment Systems Chosen to Receive ARRA Funds

6/19/2009 -- (Helena) – Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer and the Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) have chosen the City of Billings water and wastewater systems for low interest loans and funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).

The funds will be used to replace old and undersized water and sewer mains within the city. The new lines will reduce leakage and improve the reliability of the water distribution and wastewater collection systems.

“Upgrading infrastructure to meet growing demand is a good investment for the City of Billings,” said Governor Brian Schweitzer. “I’m pleased that the ARRA funds are available for this important project.”    » read more »

Conrad, Montana Wastewater Treatment Plant Chosen to Receive ARRA Funds

6/19/2009 -- (Helena) – Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer and the Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) have chosen the City of Conrad’s wastewater treatment plant upgrade for a low interest loan and funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009(ARRA). The new facility should dramatically improve the quality of the treated water which is discharged to the Marias River.

May 22, 2009 -- WASHINGTON — U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Carl Levin (D-MI) announced today the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded $2,661,000 to the City of Manistique through the Rural Development Program. The city received $1,995,000 in grant funding and a $666,000 loan from USDA to improve the water treatment plant.

Senators Feinstein and Boxer Introduce Measure to Increase the Supply of Non-Drinking Water for California’s Bay Area

May 22, 2009 -- Washington, DC – U.S. Senators Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer (both D-Calif.) have reintroduced a bill to increase the supply of non-drinking water for California’s Bay Area. Similar legislation was introduced by Senators Feinstein and Boxer in the 110th Congress.

Specifically, the bill would help six Bay Area communities increase their municipal water supplies through innovative and much-needed water recycling projects. It would make six additional Bay Area recycled water projects eligible for a 25 percent federal cost-share, and increase the authorization levels for two more, totaling $38,075,000.    » read more »
