09/18/2007 -- Marlon Anderson of the New York Mets has been suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount for his inappropriate actions during the bottom of the ninth inning of Saturday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies at Shea Stadium. Bob Watson, Vice President of On-Field Operations for Major League Baseball, made the announcement.

Unless appealed, Marlon Anderson's suspension is scheduled to begin tonight, when the New York Mets play at Washington. If appealed, the suspension will be held in abeyance until the process is complete.

09/17/2007 -- The Washington Nationals today claimed right-handed pitcher Enrique Gonzalez off trade waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks. Enrique Gonzalez was then placed on the Nationals' 40-man roster, but will not report. Nationals Vice President and General Manager Jim Bowden made the announcement.    » read more »

09/16/2007 -- The Washington Nationals today announced that the press box in the new Nationals Park will be named the "Shirley Povich Media Center", in honor of the late Hall of Fame Baseball writer. 09/11/2007 -- The Washington Nationals will host Hispanic Heritage Night, sponsored by 7-Eleven and Budweiser, when they take on the Atlanta Braves on Saturday, September 15 at 7:05pm. Hispanic Heritage Night is being held to recognize Hispanic culture and honor Hispanic players' contributions to the game of baseball. 09/05/2007 -- Ryan Zimmerman today was named the Washington Nationals recipient of the 2007 Roberto Clemente Award presented by Chevrolet. He is now one of 30 Major League Club nominees for the national 2007 Roberto Clemente Award, which is given annually to the Major League Baseball player who combines outstanding skills on the baseball field with devoted work in the community.    » read more »

09/04/2007 -- The Washington Nationals today traded left-handed pitcher Ray King to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for a player to be named later. Washington Nationals Vice President and General Manager Jim Bowden made the announcement.

Ray King, 33, went 1-1 with a 4.54 ERA (17 ER/33.2 IP) in 55 games with the Washington Nationals this season. He signed with the Washington Nationals as a minor-league free agent on December 18, 2006.

King returns to Milwaukee, where he went 6-8 with 38 holds, one save and a 2.91 ERA in three seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers from 2000-02.    » read more »

08/26/2007 - Following Sunday afternoon's series finale at Coors Field, the Washington Nationals optioned right-hander John Lannan to Columbus of the Triple-A International League and recalled from rehab and reinstated right-hander Jason Bergmann from the 15-day disabled list. Washington Nationals vice president and general manager Jim Bowden made the announcement.

John Lannan, 22, is 2-2 with a 4.15 ERA in six starts for the Washington Nationals.    » read more »

08/21/2007 -- The Washington Nationals today acquired first baseman/outfielder Chris Carter from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for right-handed pitcher Emiliano Fruto. The Washington Nationals then immediately traded Chris Carter to the Boston Red Sox as the player to be named to complete the August 17 trade in which Washington acquired outfielder Wily Mo Pena and cash considerations from Boston Red Sox.
