Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals Was Most Viewed Opening Night on ESPN
April 1, 2008 -- ESPN’s Major League Baseball Opening Night telecast – Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals on March 30 in the debut of Nationals Park – averaged 2,700,000 households and 3,656,000 viewers to become the most-viewed Opening Night ever on ESPN networks. The previous record audience was St. Louis at Cincinnati, April 3, 1994, which averaged 2,595,000 households and 3,612,000 viewers. The corresponding 2.8 rating for the Atlanta at Washington game was the highest-rated Opening Night since Chicago at Seattle in 1996 (3.4 rating). » read more »

Two players placed on disabled list
ATLANTA, 03/29/2008 -- The Atlanta Braves set their 25-man roster for opening day prior to Saturday afternoon's game at Turner Field. Atlanta purchased the contract of catcher Corky Miller, while four players were optioned and two players were reassigned. In addition, right-handed pitcher John Smoltz (right shoulder inflammation) and left-handed pitcher Chuck James (left shoulder rehabilitation) were placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 21.
The Atlanta Braves optioned outfielder Josh Anderson, catcher Clint Sammons, right-handed pitcher Buddy Carlyle and left-handed pitcher Jeff Ridgway to Richmond (AAA). Infielder Brent Lillibridge and outfielder Joe Borchard were reassigned to Richmond. » read more »
Washington Nationals Place Elijah Dukes on DL
03/31/2008 -- Following tonight's game, the Washington Nationals placed outfielder Elijah Dukes on the 15-day disabled list (right hamstring), and recalled right-handed pitcher Chris Schroder from Triple-A Columbus. Nationals Senior Vice President and General Manager Jim Bowden made the announcement.
Chris Schroder, 29, went 0-2 with a 4.09 ERA in 9 appearances during Spring Training. He struck out 13 batters in 11.0 innings. Last season, Chris Schroder went 2-3 with a 3.18 ERA in 37 games with the Nationals, and 2-2 with a 1.64 ERA in 26 outings with Columbus.

Washington Nationals Finalize Opening Night 25-Man Roster
03/26/2008 -- The Washington Nationals today placed catcher Johnny Estrada on the 15-Day Disabled List (right elbow), retroactive to March 21. The Nationals then optioned left-handed pitcher John Lannan and right-handed pitcher Chris Schroder to Columbus of the Triple-A International League. The club also outrighted outfielder Ryan Langerhans and reassigned infielder Pete Orr to Columbus. Nationals Senior Vice President and General Manager Jim Bowden made the announcements.
With these moves, the Washington Nationals' current active roster stands at 25 and consists of:

Washington Nationals Retain Rights to Outfielder Garrett Guzman
03/23/2008 -- The Washington Nationals today retained the rights to outfielder Garrett Guzman by acquiring him from the Minnesota Twins in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Washington Nationals Senior Vice President and General Manager Jim Bowden made the announcement.
Garrett Guzman, 24, is batting .222 (4-for-18) with a double, homer and two RBI in 12 Grapefruit League contests. He was the Washington Nationals' second selection (16th overall) in the 2007 Rule 5 Draft.

03/13/2008 -- The Washington Nationals today announced special ticket discounts for the upcoming season at Nationals Park and additions to their 2008 promotional schedule.
The team announced the details for the "Harris Teeter Vic Card Tuesdays", "The Washington Post Wednesdays" and the Sunday "Family Fun Pack" ticket discounts. At each Tuesday home game, fans may present their Harris Teeter VIC Card at the Nationals Park Box Office and receive $5 off tickets valued at $24 or more.
