Virgin Atlantic Flies Jet Using Biofuel
28 February 2008 -- Air travel is growing rapidly around the world and the fuel jets burn is a major contributor of greenhouse gases. Virgin Atlantic Airlines President Richard Branson demonstrated this week that using biofuel to power a commercial jetliner may make the sky a little greener.

Nov. 29, 2007 -- Virgin Atlantic, the airline partner for the Return of the Spice Girls world tour, is launching a jumbo competition for Spice Girls fans all around the globe. To help celebrate the world tour, the girls are asking their fans to help them choose the name of a Virgin Atlantic jumbo jet which will be christened in their honour.
Emma, Geri, Melanie C, Mel B and Victoria have come up with a shortlist for fans to choose from which is the following three options:

Boeing to Supply Airplane Health Management System to Virgin Atlantic
SEATTLE, Aug. 14, 2007 -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] and Virgin Atlantic Airways said today that the airline will use Boeing's Airplane Health Management system to monitor the in-flight condition of its 747-400 fleet. The announcement adds momentum to a growing partnership focused on reducing the environmental impact of air travel.
In April, Boeing and Virgin Atlantic said they will work together to reduce fuel burn and cut aircraft emissions on the ground as well as developing sustainable biofuels suitable for commercial jet engines and the aviation industry. » read more »
