August 2, 2007 -- WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) and Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA) today led a strong bipartisan coalition of Senators introducing legislation to give victims of state-sponsored terrorism their day in court.

Kansas Governor Sebelius Removes Delay In Flood Victims’ Benefits

Residents who lost jobs as a result of flooding to receive help sooner

July 16, 2007 -- Workers and businesses impacted by flooding in Southeast Kansas will receive additional help from the state, Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius announced today.

Sebelius signed an executive order allowing workers unemployed as a result of the flooding to receive unemployment benefits immediately, as well as making it so business’ unemployment insurance accounts are not charged for disaster-related benefits.    » read more »

West Virginia Governor Announces Victims Of Crime Act Program Grant Awards Totaling $2.8 Million

June 5, 2007 -- CHARLESTON – West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin today announced he has awarded more than $2.8 million in Victims of Crime Act Assistance (VOCA) grants to 63 public and private non-profit agencies throughout West Virginia.

Manchin said the awards will provide direct services, such as counseling, personal advocacy, court advocacy, client transportation and support services to victims of crimes, including domestic violence, sexual violence, child abuse and elderly abuse.
