Oklahoma Agreement Closes WorldCom Deferred Prosecution

08/07/2007 -- Verizon Business, the successor company to WorldCom Inc., has paid the Oklahoma Department of Commerce (ODOC) more than $11.7 million to fulfill the terms of its deferred prosecution agreement with the state, Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson said today.

In August 2003, Edmondson accused WorldCom of executing a scheme to artificially inflate the value of its stock and bonds by intentionally falsifying information filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Edmondson claimed state investments suffered because of this false information.    » read more »
