The woman’s illness was caused by the B/Shanghai-like strain of the virus, the Minnesota Department of Health reported today. 10 May 2007 -- Two studies appearing this week in the New England Journal of Medicine confirm that a new vaccine is effective in preventing cervical cancer, a disease that kills almost 300,000 women around the world each year.
