Travelers Reminded of New Document Requirements Beginning January 31, 2008

December 3, 2007 -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the U.S. Department of State (DOS) remind the traveling public that as of Jan. 31, 2008, all adult travelers will be required to present proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate, and proof of identity, such as a driver’s license, when entering the United States through land and sea ports of entry. Michelin Unveils First-Ever Restaurant, Hotel Selections for Los Angeles, Las Vegas

Los Angeles (Nov. 12, 2007) – Michelin today released the first-ever editions of the MICHELIN Guide for Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

The MICHELIN Guide Los Angeles 2008 features 290 establishments in all, a number that includes 263 restaurants – representing 29 types of cuisine – and 27 hotels.

Three restaurants in Los Angeles were awarded two Michelin stars, including Mélisse, Spago and sushi specialist Urusawa. Fifteen restaurants in Los Angeles were awarded one Michelin star.

The MICHELIN Guide Las Vegas 2008 features 127 restaurants and 30 hotels.    » read more »

Congress Demands Release of Air Safety Data

25 October 2007 -- American news media are reporting that a survey of pilots by the U.S. government found that safety problems involving air carriers happen more frequently than previously known. The reports say the space agency, NASA, conducted the survey, but did not publish the results over fears they could affect public confidence in air travel. Some lawmakers are accusing the government of trying to suppress the results because they might hurt airline profits -- a charge NASA firmly denies.    » read more »

Americans Flying To Mexico, Canada, Caribbean Need Passports

01 October 2007 -- Americans flying to Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean now need a passport to get back home.

Starting Monday, the U.S. government requires a passport or proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate, for all air travelers arriving from countries within North America.

The rule had gone into effect in January. But the State Department suspended it when it could not keep up with the demand for new passports.

Previously, air passengers arriving from nearby countries had to show proof of citizenship only at the discretion of border agents.    » read more »
