NEW YORK – The Toyota USA Foundation, a charitable endowment supporting K-12 math and science education, today announced $3.3 million in new grants. The latest round of grants is going to 12 organizations from across the country.

Toyota Reports May Sales: 20.6% Increase Month-to-Month

TORRANCE, Calif. (June 2, 2009) – Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., today reported that May vehicle sales hit a new monthly high for the year and jumped 20.6 percent compared to April 2009. Sales of 152,583 vehicles trailed year ago levels and were down 38.4 percent from last May, on a daily selling rate basis.

“The big jump in consumer confidence in May translated into a solid gain in retail vehicle sales compared to April,” said Don Esmond, senior vice president of automotive operations for TMS. “We’re encouraged that consumers are beginning to return to showrooms and that the industry continues to show signs of stabilization.”    » read more »

Production of Toyota Highlander Begins in China

May 25, 2009 -- Tokyo — Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announced that GAC Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. (GTMC), a vehicle-production and sales joint venture between TMC and Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. (Guangzhou Automobile), held a line-off ceremony today for the "Highlander" SUV, produced on GTMC's new production line at its plant in Nansha District, Guangzhou, Guangdong, China.

Strong Global Sales Boost Toyota's Profit

11 February 2008 -- Stronger vehicle sales has boosted profits at Japan's top automaker, while demand has weakened for new share offerings in India.

Japan's Toyota Motors Corporation says profit in the three months ending in December jumped seven and a half percent from the same period the previous year because of strong vehicle sales around the world.

Sales in Asia, excluding Japan, jumped more than 18 percent, while sales in the Middle East, South Africa and Australia surged 28 percent.    » read more »
