Tornadoes Across US South Kill at Least 11

06 February 2008 -- U.S. law enforcement officials say at least 11 people have been killed and dozens injured as tornadoes and thunderstorms tore through parts of the U.S. south.

The U.S. National Weather Service reports severe weather swept across the lower Mississippi Valley, Southern Plains and Midwest Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Reports of tornadoes, wind damage and hail came from Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Texas, and Missouri.    » read more »

Wisconsin Governor Doyle Orders State of Emergency for Kenosha County

January 08, 2008 -- MADISON - Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle today declared a state of emergency in Kenosha County following a series of rare January tornadoes that hit Wisconsin last night. Arkansas Governor Beebe Declares Two Counties Disaster Areas Due To Tornado And Thunderstorm Damage

Oct 19, 2007 -- LITTLE ROCK – Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe has declared Crittenden and Lincoln Counties state disaster areas due to the damage caused by thunderstorms and tornadoes on Wednesday, October 17 and early Thursday, October 18.

The declaration releases $100,000 from the Governor’s Disaster Fund to be used by the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management through the Individual Assistance Program. Affected residents in both counties can apply for assistance at their local Department of Human Services offices beginning Monday, October 22.    » read more »

WACO, Texas -- Federal and State disaster officials today announced that the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Haltom City will transition to a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Loan Outreach Center beginning Monday, September 24.
