MLB Roundup: New York Yankees Beat Detroit Tigers

26 August 2007 -- New York Yankees pitcher Chien-ming Wang continued his dominance of Major League Baseball's defending American League champion Detroit Tigers with a 7-2 victory Saturday.

Wang has five wins and no losses against the Detroit Tigers this season, along with a no decision.

The pitcher from Taiwan improved his overall record to 15-6 this year with Saturday's victory.

Detroit Tigers pitcher Jeremy Bonderman suffered his sixth straight loss after posting a 10-1 record to start the season.    » read more »

This is Scott Feldman's sixth stint with the Texas Rangers this season. In 25 relief appearances with the club, he is 1-2, 6.00 (22 ER/33.0 IP). At Oklahoma, Scott Feldman was 1-1, 4.50 (15 ER/30.0 IP) with two saves in 25 appearances.    » read more »

08/23/2007, DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers today announced the club has traded outfielder Craig Monroe to the Chicago Cubs for a player to be named later on or before October 15, 2007.

Designated for assignment by Detroit Tigers on August 17, Monroe hit .222 (76x343) with 11 home runs and 55 RBI in 96 games with the Detroit Tigers this season.

Claimed off waivers by the Detroit Tigers from the Texas Rangers on February 1, 2002, Monroe batted .259 (607x2348) with 101 home runs and 379 RBI in 672 games in six seasons with the Detroit Tigers.

20 August 2007 -- Major League Baseball star pitcher Johan Santana set a Minnesota Twins' franchise record Sunday with 17 strikeouts.

Santana worked eight innings, leading the Twins to a 1-0 win over the Texas Rangers.

In another American League contest, the New York Yankees won their third straight game against the defending league champion Tigers, thumping Detroit, 9-3.

08/15/2007, ARLINGTON -- Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels announced today the club has activated RHP Vicente Padilla from the 15-day disabled list and has placed RHP Brandon McCarthy on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Aug. 11, with a stress fracture in his right shoulder blade.
