29 August 2007 -- World No. 1 women's tennis player Justin Henin of Belgium has reached the third round of the U.S. Open in New York. Henin got stronger as her match went on, defeating Bulgarian Tsvetana Pironkova, 6-4, 6-0.

27 August 2007 -- Top seeds Roger Federer of Switzerland and Justine Henin of Belgium have won their opening round matches at the U.S. Open in New York, the final Grand Slam tennis tournament of the year.
Roger Federer is seeking to become the first man in the Open era to win four straight titles in the U.S championship and first since Bill Tilden in 1923. Roger Federer faced only two break points Monday in beating American Scoville Jenkins, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4.

20 August 2007 -- The number-one tennis players in the world have been named the top seeds for the U.S. Open, which begins next Monday in New York.
Three-time defending champion Roger Federer of Switzerland is seeded first for the fourth consecutive year. Justine Henin, who won the U.S. Open in 2003 and was the runner-up to Russian Maria Sharapova last year, tops the women's seedings.

20 August 2007 -- World number one men's tennis player Roger Federer of Switzerland has won his 50th career tournament title. Federer defeated American James Blake, 6-1, 6-4, in the Western and Southern Financial Group Masters Tournament in Mason, Ohio, near Cincinnati on Sunday.

06 August 2007 -- Top-seeded Andy Roddick has won his third Legg Mason Classic tennis title in Washington. But as VOA's Jim Stevenson reports, Roddick and the rest of the tennis world may have witnessed the emergence of a new American tennis star.
Roddick is no stranger to playing in tournament finals. With his win Sunday at the Legg Mason Classic, Roddick has now prevailed 23 times to win events, including three at the annual Washington tournament. Venus Williams Wins Wimbledon Tennis
08 July 2007 -- American tennis player Venus Williams has won her fourth women's title at Wimbledon by scoring a straight-sets victory over Marion Bartoli of France.
Williams, seeded 23rd at this event, beat the French player easily, 6-4, 6-1. It took only 90 minutes for the American to win the title for the fourth time.
This was the first time the two players have met on the WTA Tour. Bartoli had upset top seed and world number one Justine Henin of Belgium in the semifinals. » read more »

08 July 2007 -- Roger Federer of Switzerland has captured his fifth consecutive Wimbledon tennis title by defeating nemesis Rafael Nadal of Spain in a five-set epic.
Federer appeared to be in trouble in the fifth set Sunday before turning the tables and holding on for a 7-6, 4-6, 7-6, 2-6, 6-2 victory.
With the win, Federer becomes the first man to win five straight titles at the All England Tennis Club since Sweden's Bjorn Borg did it between 1976 and 1980. » read more »
