Pentagon Says China Continues Military Build-up
03 March 2008 -- A Pentagon report released Monday asserts that China is continuing its steady military buildup. The annual assessment to Congress also says Beijing's reluctance to share information about its military intentions, spending and capabilities poses a risk to stability.

Typhoon Moves Towards Taiwan, China
18 September 2007 -- Meteorologists in East Asia are warning residents in Taiwan and eastern China to brace for Typhoon Wipha, after a separate storm passed through South Korea, killing at least 14.
Forecasters say Wipha is strengthening with winds over 200 kilometers per hour and could bring heavy rains Tuesday.
Another storm, Typhoon Nari, hit South Korea Sunday, displacing nearly 1,000 people, mostly on the resort island of Jeju and in Jeolla Province. » read more »

Tropical Storm Pabuk Soaks Philippines, Lashes Taiwan and Heads to China
08 August 2007 -- Tropical storm Pabuk has triggered deadly landslides in the Philippines, and has lashed Taiwan as it heads toward China's southeastern province of Guangdong.
Officials in the Philippines say Pabuk bolstered monsoon rains, triggering landslides that killed at least 11 people there.
As the storm passed over the south of Taiwan, it disrupted transportation and electricity, forcing the closure of schools and offices. » read more »
