Nebraska AG Bruning Warns Consumers About Latest Sweepstakes Fraud

June 22, 2007 -- (Lincoln, NE) Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning today warned consumers about a new type of sweepstakes fraud that lists false sponsorships to deceive consumers into participating.

The sweepstakes notice contains the logo of Virgin Mobile USA, a cellular phone company in England. However, an inquiry by the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division found Virgin Mobile is not involved in the sweepstakes.    » read more »

May 30, 2007 -- The Bureau of Insurance is advising consumers to beware of an illegal sweepstakes scam targeting MMG Insurance Company, a Maine domestic insurer located in Presque Isle. Officials at MMG notified acting Superintendent Eric Cioppa that individuals across the United States have received bogus sweepstakes letters which fraudulently use the MMG logo and name without the company’s knowledge or authorization.
