NEW YORK, Jan. 17, 2008 -- Instead of watching the same petty musical performances or unique Janet Jackson dance routines, Spike TV will offer viewers something real to sink their teeth into during halftime of football's biggest game on Sunday, February 3. Spike TV and Major League Eating will present the world's top competitive eaters, including Joey Chestnut and Patrick Bertoletti, in ham and eggs consumption. Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers to Perform at Super Bowl

11 December 2007, Washington (By Mary Morningstar) -- Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers have been chosen to perform the half-time show at the NFL's championship Super Bowl game on February 3.

The Super Bowl will be played at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona.

Previous half-time entertainers include the Rolling Stones, Prince, Paul McCartney, Diana Ross, Sting and Phil Collins.
