St. Louis Cardinals Announce Adam Kennedy Out with Right Knee Injury

St. Louis Cardinals infielder to undergo arthroscopic surgery

08/12/2007, ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that second baseman Adam Kennedy suffered a torn medial meniscus in his right knee and he is expected to undergo arthroscopic surgery early this week.

Kennedy has been placed on the 15-day disabled list and his recovery time is estimated between 4 to 6 weeks.

To take Kennedy's spot on the active roster, the St. Louis Cardinals have recalled infielder Brendan Ryan from Triple-A Memphis.

Pitcher-turned-outfielder is slated to be in starting lineup tonight

LOUIS -- The St. Louis Cardinals announced this afternoon that outfielder Rick Ankiel has been purchased from Memphis (AAA) and is scheduled to be in uniform (#49) as a starting outfielder for tonight's game against the San Diego Padres. St. Louis Cardinals Pitcher Mike Maroth Placed on 15-day Disabled List

08/06/2007, ST. LOUIS -- St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Mike Maroth was placed on the 15-day disabled list today, retroactive to Sunday, August 5, due to left elbow tendonitis. To take his spot on the active roster, the Cardinals have activated pitcher Tyler Johnson from the disabled list for tonight's game with the San Diego Padres.

Tyler Johnson was 1-1 with a 4.32 ERA in 37 games this season before going on the disabled list June 19 due to a left bicep injury. He made four injury rehab appearances last week between Memphis (AAA) and Springfield (AA).

19 May 2007 -- In a rematch of Major League Baseball's World Series last year, the Detroit Tigers crushed the champion St. Louis Cardinals, 14-4.

The host Tigers scored nine runs in the fifth inning Friday, on the way to amassing three more runs in one game than they did in the entire five-game World Series.
