Hank Blalock's Grand Slam Lifts Texas Rangers Over Los Angeles Angels
03 September 2007 (VOA Sports) -- Slugger Hank Blalock hit a go-ahead grand slam in the eighth inning to lead the Texas Rangers to an 8-7 win Sunday over the Los Angeles Angels in a key Major League Baseball contest.
Hank Blalock's fifth career bases-loaded home run gave the Rangers an 8-5 lead. The American League West division-leading Angels pulled to within a run of tying the game in the ninth inning, and had the bases loaded when Garret Anderson struck out looking to end the game. » read more »
Update by St. Louis Cardinals on Juan Encarnacion's Injury
09/01/2007, ST. LOUIS - St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Juan Encarnacion suffered multiple fractures of his left eye socket and a serious eye injury after being struck by a foul ball last night.
Juan Encarnacion has been hospitalized for continued observation, evaluation and treatment. He will be re-evaluated on a daily basis to continue to assess the severity of his eye injury.
Juan Encarnacion will miss the remainder of 2007 season due to his injury and his long-term prognosis is undetermined at this time.

St. Louis Cardinals Send Pitcher Chris Lambert to Detroit Tigers to Complete Mike Maroth Deal
08/30/2007, ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Cardinals today announced that the Detroit Tigers have selected right-handed pitcher Chris Lambert as the player to be named later in the June 22nd trade for left-handed pitcher Mike Maroth.
Chris Lambert was 1-4 with a 7.49 ERA (57.2 IP / 48 ER) in 28 games (four starts) at Triple-A Memphis this season. He began the season at Double-A Springfield and went 0-2 with a 3.42 ERA (26.1 IP / 10 ER) in five starts prior to being promoted to Memphis.
Chris Lambert will report to the Tigers Triple-A affiliate in Toledo, OH.

St. Louis Cardinals Adam Kennedy Undergoes Knee Surgery
St. Louis Cardinals second baseman likely to miss a minimum six weeks
Milwaukee, WI, August 14, 2007 -- St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Adam Kennedy had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee earlier today. The surgery was performed by Dr. Lew Yocum in Los Angeles.
As expected, Adam Kennedy had a complex tear of the medial meniscus and underwent a partial menisectomy.
He is expected to miss a minimum of six weeks and will begin the rehabilitation process in California. Adam Kennedy will return to St. Louis when he is able to begin field activities.

08/13/2007, ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that they have claimed infielder Brian Barden off waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks. Barden will be optioned to the Cardinals Triple-A Memphis roster. The third baseman was on his first Major League Opening Day roster this season and made his M.L. debut on April 3 as a pinch hitter at Colorado. Barden had one hit in 12 at-bats in his eight games before his option to Triple-A Tucson in May. His first Major League hit was a single on April 8 at Washington. » read more »
