Kansas City Wizards Hosting Free Soccer Clinic for Kansas City Youth

October 8, 2007 - The Kansas City Wizards announced today that they will host a free clinic for select Kansas City youth Tuesday from 5:30 - 7 p.m. at the team's Swope Park Training Center at 63rd and Lewis. Several community groups that include children ages 8 - 18 have been invited to the clinic scheduled to be run by eight members of the Wizards, including Technical Director Peter Vermes and Head Coach Curt Onalfo.    » read more »

FC Dallas Clinches MLS Playoff Berth

10/07/2007, FRISCO, Texas - On Saturday evening, FC Dallas became the fifth team to qualify for the 2007 MLS Cup Playoffs with its 3-1 road win over the Columbus Crew. This will be Dallas' 10th trip to the postseason in its 12-year history, tying the Los Angeles Galaxy for most all-time playoff appearances. D.C. Landon Donovan Named Top US Soccer Player Fourth Time

06 October 2007, Los Angeles (By Mike O'Sullivan) -- The 25-year-old forward Landon Donovan has been named U.S. soccer's player of the year. Mike O'Sullivan reports from Los Angeles, it was his fourth time winning the honor.

Landon Donovan was the youngest player to be named U.S. player of the year in 2002, and by 2004, was the first consecutive three-time winner. Now, he is the only player to earn the national honor four times.    » read more »

Los Angeles Galaxy look to continue playoff run with a fourth straight win

Front office advises fans to take steps to avoid delays

10/02/2007, HOUSTON, TX -- This Sunday's Houston Dynamo game against the Los Angeles Galaxy is sold out, a first-time experience for the team since its move to Houston. As a result, the Dynamo front office is encouraging fans to arrive early to avoid traffic congestion, parking problems, and other delays entering the stadium.

The crowd expected at Sunday's contest will be one of the largest in Robertson Stadium history. Fans arriving between 1:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. are very likely to experience major delays.    » read more »

Germany Wins 2nd Straight FIFA Women's World Cup

30 September 2007, Shanghai (By John Stevenson) -- Germany has won the Women's World Cup football tournament in China. VOA's Jim Stevenson reports from Hongkou Stadium in Shanghai, where the Germans scored a 2-0 victory over Brazil to become the first team to claim consecutive titles in a major women's football competition.

Brazil played an inspired first half in the championship game Sunday. The South American women pressured the German goal and narrowly missed several good scoring chances.    » read more »

A thick haze shrouded Olympic Stadium when the game kicked off Wednesday. A breeze began to blow, and visibility improved as the outcome of the game also became clear.

09/25/2007 -- The Kansas City Wizards (10-10-6, 36 pts) host the Los Angeles Galaxy (5-13-6, 21 pts) on ESPN 2's MLS Primetime Thursday at 7 p.m. CT at Arrowhead Stadium. The Wizards have arranged for numerous attractions surrounding the match, including an expanded Soccer Celebration east of the stadium, a performance by Liverpool: A Tribute to the Beatles and a post-game party at Martini Corner in mid-town.
