Government-industry R&D partnership is largest ever

October 19, 2009 -- The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and Siemens Energy Inc. today formally commissioned a new 2.3 megawatt Siemens wind turbine at NREL's National Wind Technology Center. Virco BVBA Signs Hepatitis C Licensing Agreement With Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Inc.

Mechelen, Belgium, (May 28 2009): Virco BVBA has today signed a global research and development, non-exclusive licensing agreement with Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Inc (NY, USA). Under this agreement Siemens is providing Virco a license which will enable Virco to develop and commercialize a new hepatitis C research service testing platform.

This platform will initially be utilized by pharmaceutical companies for drug development support of the new hepatitis C virus (HCV) antivirals. The platform will have the potential to provide HCV clinical diagnostic testing services in the future.    » read more »

Siemens Opens European Headquarters For Wind Energy In Hamburg

70 new jobs planned at the location

Hamburg, Germany, May 12, 2009 -- Siemens is greatly expanding its wind power activities in Germany and Europe. As part of this expansion, Siemens has now established its European headquarters for wind power sales and project execution in Hamburg, Germany. At the same time, the Bremen location in Germany is being upgraded to European headquarters in the service business.

The new headquarters in Hamburg is starting up operations with about 40 employees. As a result, employees with functions in sales and project execution have relocated to Hamburg from Brande in Denmark and, in some cases, from Bremen. In the medium term, about 70 jobs are expected to be created at Siemens Wind Power’s new Hamburg location.    » read more »

5/14/2009 -- Raleigh -- North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue today announced that Siemens Energy Inc., an international supplier of products and services for the generation, transmission and distribution of power, will expand its operations in Mecklenburg County. The company plans to invest nearly $50 million and create 226 jobs in Charlotte during the next five years.

Colorado Governor Ritter Welcomes Siemens Wind Research Center To Colorado

June 3, 2008 -- Colorado Governor Bill Ritter today welcomed global wind-industry leader Siemens Energy to Colorado.

Siemens Energy announced today at the American Wind Energy Association annual conference in Houston that it will establish its U.S. wind research and development center in Boulder, creating 50 new green-collar jobs here in Colorado.

Motorola, Siemens and GlaxoSmithKline Pay $500,000 Penalty for System Failures at Superfund Site in Scottsdale, Arizona

SAN FRANCISCO, 05/19/2008 – Motorola, Inc., Siemens Corp. and GlaxoSmithKline will collectively pay a $500,000 civil penalty for system failures that led to the release of trichloroethylene (TCE) into the public drinking water system in Scottsdale, Ariz., the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Justice announced today.

The settlement resolves violations of the North Indian Bend Wash consent decree, filed in 2003, which occurred when TCE above contamination limits was released from the Miller Road Treatment Facility on two separate occasions, in October 2007 and January 2008.    » read more »

Leading Wind Energy Manufacturers Call For Immediate Extension Of Key Renewable Energy Incentive

Washington, D.C. -- April 21, 2008 -- Senior executives from four of the world’s top wind turbine manufacturers —GE Energy, Gamesa, Siemens and Vestas—joined today in urging Congress to act promptly to extend the renewable energy production tax credit (PTC). The PTC is now set to expire December 31, 2008, although a one-year extension was recently approved by the Senate.
