CA Governor Requests Federal Disaster Declaration
Issues Executive Order to Provide Assistance
06/19/2009 -- Showing that government still works for the people, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today requested a federal disaster declaration from President Obama for Fresno County and issued Executive Order S-11-09, activating the California Disaster Assistance Act.
By taking this action, the state will be able to provide temporary supplemental assistance to the local governments and non-profit organizations that supply food and other aid to those who are impacted by the drought statewide. The order also waives the one-week waiting period for unemployment insurance. » read more »
CA Gov. Cheers Edison Solar Roof Program Approval
06/18/2009 -- California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today issued the statement below following the California Public Utilities Commission’s approval of a solar photovoltaic (PV) program for Southern California Edison that will result in the deployment of 500 megawatts of PV on existing commercial rooftops in Edison’s service territory:
“This is a great step toward our vision of one day seeing solar panels on millions of rooftops across the Golden State. In order to meet California’s long-term renewable energy and climate change goals, we need a mix of renewable sources and projects of all sizes - all of which are underway - spurring innovation and creating green jobs in our state.”

Gov. Schwarzenegger Announces Implementation of California Foreclosure Prevention Act to Help Families at Risk of Losing Their Homes

Gov. Schwarzenegger Announces New “Waste Watcher” Feature on Governor’s Web Site

In an effort to encourage state employees to report wasteful government practices, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today announced a new feature called “Waste Watchers” on his Web site at www.gov.ca.gov and his Reporting Transparency in Government Web site.
The Waste Watchers site allows state employees and other Californians to go online and report any government waste they may be aware of, either anonymously or by name. The Administration will monitor the site and investigate submissions. » read more »
CA Governor Schwarzenegger Issues Executive Order to Reduce State Spending
06/08/2009 -- Taking immediate action to reduce spending as the state faces a $24.3 billion deficit, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today signed Executive Order S-09-09 to eliminate funding for contracts entered into by state agencies and departments after March 1, 2009 for all goods and services excluding those necessary for public safety and to prohibit entering into any new contracts.
Additionally, the order directs all state departments to develop and submit to the Department of Finance plans to reduce their future spending on contracts and purchases by at least 15 percent no later than 30 days after the adoption of the revised 2009-10 budget. » read more »

06/01/2009 -- California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today offered rewards for information leading to the arrest and conviction in a California court of the person or persons responsible for each of the following three unsolved murder cases in California.
The following is a brief description of each crime and the reward amount offered:
* On July 16, 1975, the body of 17-year-old Donna Joann Peeples was found in a grape vineyard in Stanislaus County. The Governor is offering a reward in the amount of $50,000. It was requested by Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson. » read more »

05/27/2009 -- Appearing at a West Los Angeles Shell hydrogen station today, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger joined the 2009 Hydrogen Road Tour to highlight advances in fuel-cell technology. Organized by the California Air Resources Board (ARB), California Fuel Cell Partnership, National Hydrogen Association and U.S. Fuel Cell Council, the annual road rally began on Monday, May 25 in San Diego and ends on Wednesday, June 3 in Vancouver, British Columbia.

CA Gov. Schwarzenegger Statement on California Supreme Court Ruling on Proposition 8
05/26/2009 -- California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today issued the following statement after the California Supreme Court issued its ruling on Proposition 8:
“While I believe that one day either the people or courts will recognize gay marriage, as Governor of California I will uphold the decision of the California Supreme Court.
"Regarding the 18,000 marriages that took place prior to Proposition 8’s passage, the Court made the right decision in keeping them intact. I also want to encourage all those responding to today’s Court decision to do so peacefully and lawfully.”

California Gov. Schwarzenegger Letter to AB 32 Economic and Allocation Advisory Committee Regarding Cap-and-Trade Implementation
05/22/2009 -- California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger sent the following letter to the 16 members of the Economic and Allocation Advisory Committee announced today by California Environmental Protection Agency Secretary Linda Adams and Air Resources Board Chairman Mary Nichols. The Committee will advise on the implementation of AB 32 and the associated cap-and-trade system.
Among the Committee’s tasks will be considering various options for freely distributing or auctioning allowances.
