May 1, 2008 -- WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Barack Obama today sent the following letter to the head of the Small Business Administration (SBA), Steven Preston, objecting to the SBA's proposed rule, entitled Women-Owned Small Business Federal Contract Assistance procedures, which would do little or nothing to rectify the underrepresentation of and discrimination against women owned businesses in government contracting awards.

Officials Begin Assessing Damage from Arkansas Flooding

March 26, 2008, LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- On March 25, the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management (ADEM), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), and county and local officials will begin a review of damage resulting from the flooding that began on March 18. Minnesota Disaster Assistance Applicants Urged to Return SBA Loan Application

South Dakota Receives SBA Declaration

Aug. 27, 2007 -- Pierre, SD-Financial assistance is on its way to the victims of the Aug.17, 2007, flooding in Custer County.

Today, South Dakota Governor Mike Rounds received word that the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has approved a disaster declaration for Custer County and its neighboring counties.

“This means SBA low-interest loans will be made available to people in the designated counties,” said Governor Rounds. “The loans can’t make people whole again, but they can certainly make the recovery process easier. The SBA declaration is very good news.”    » read more »

Pennsylvania Governor Rendell Requests U.S. Small Business Administration Assistance For Beaver County

July 9, 2007 -- HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell today asked the U.S. Small Business Administration to declare Beaver County a disaster area following heavy rainfall July 5 that led to widespread flooding.
