Boeing GPS IIF Satellite Successfully Completes Environmental Tests
ST. LOUIS, July 01, 2008 -- The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] has completed environmental tests of the first of 12 Global Positioning System (GPS) IIF satellites, which confirm the mechanical integrity of the spacecraft. The program is on track to deliver the first satellite to the U.S. Air Force this year.

Wisconsin AG Asks US DOJ To Block Proposed Merger Of XM And Sirius Satellite Radio Companies
September 18, 2007 -- MADISON – Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen sent a letter today to United States Assistant Attorney General for Antitrust Thomas O. Barnett asking that the United States Department of Justice block the proposed merger between XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. and Sirius Satellite Radio. Barnett heads the United States Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division, which has the authority to challenge acquisitions and mergers. » read more »
Engineers Rescue Aging Satellites, Saving Millions
September 5, 2007, WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Researchers have used a new technique to save $60 million for broadcasters by extending the service life of two communications satellites.
The technique works by applying an advanced simulation and a method that equalizes the amount of propellant in a series of fuel tanks so that the satellite consumes all of the fuel before being retired from service. » read more »

General Dynamics-Built NFIRE Satellite Successfully Completes First Missile Defense Experiment
August 23, 2007, GILBERT, Ariz. – The Near Field Infrared Experiment (NFIRE) satellite, built by General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, today successfully completed its first experiment for the U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA). In the experiment, NFIRE collected images of a boosting missile launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif., that flew within 3.5 kilometers of the on-orbit satellite. Data collected during this experiment will be used to help with the development of future missile defense technology efforts. » read more »
