Mark Sweeney, who ranks 2nd in Major League history with 155 pinch hits, leads all big league pinch-hitters in 2007 with 16 hits, 10 walks and six doubles off the bench. 09 August 2007 -- In Major League Baseball, San Francisco's Barry Bonds hit career home run number 757 in the Giants' 5-0 win over the Washington Nationals. The two-run homer came one night after Bonds' broke Hank Aaron's 33-year-old record with his 756th career homer.
In another National League contest Wednesday, Garrett Atkins drove in a career high six runs as the Colorado Rockies beat the Milwaukee Brewers 19-4. Despite the loss, the Brewers remain in first place in the NL Central division, a game ahead of Chicago. » read more »

08 August 2007 -- San Francisco slugger Barry Bonds may have set the new Major League Baseball home run record, but that did not help his team win Tuesday night's game. The Washington Nationals came back to defeat the Giants 8-6.
The Atlanta Braves beat the Mets 7-3, moving to within 3.5 games of the New York franchise in the battle to lead the National League East division.

The Giants had to rally from an early three-run deficit, and overcome a game-tying home run in the ninth inning by Yankee star Alex Rodriguez.
