April 1, 2008 -- Moto X World Championships participant Kyle Loza and motocross riders Jesse Jolson and Jimmie McGuire will perform on a ramp-to-ramp jump at Petco Park before the San Diego Padres vs. Houston Astros game. Brian Deegan will throw out the first pitch.

SAN DIEGO, 03/29/2008 -- The San Diego Padres will begin their quest for their third National League West crown in four years Monday, March 31, when they host the Houston Astros at 7:05 p.m. PDT.

The game features two of the most dominating pitchers in Major League Baseball. Reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Jake Peavy will start for the San Diego Padres, while the Houston Astros will counter with right-hander Roy Oswalt.

San Diego Padres Announce 25-Man Roster

03/28/2008, SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Padres today finalized their 25-man roster Opening Day with outfielder Jim Edmonds being placed on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to March 21) with a strained right calf. San Diego Padres Executive Vice President/General Manager Kevin Towers made the announcement.

Jim Edmonds suffered the injury on March 6 in a Spring Training game in Peoria, Ariz., against the Colorado Rockies.

The San Diego Padres open the 2008 Championship Season Monday at 7:05 p.m. (PT) against the Houston Astros. 2007 Cy Young Award winner Jake Peavy will face Houston Astros hurler Roy Oswalt.

32 Players now in Major League camp

PEORIA, Ariz., 03/26/2008 -- The San Diego Padres announced today that they have optioned three players to Triple-A Portland and reassigned three others to minor league camp. Executive Vice President/General Manager Kevin Towers made the announcements.

Infielders Brian Myrow, Oscar Robles and Craig Stansberry were optioned to Portland, while right-handed pitcher Adam Bass, left-hander Shawn Estes and outfielder Chip Ambres were reassigned to the Beavers.

With today's moves, the San Diego Padres now have 32 players in Major League camp, including 30 players from the 40-man roster and two non-roster invitees.

Justin Huber, 25, played parts of the last three Major League seasons with the Royals, appearing in 19 games at first base and three in left field. In 38 career Big League games, he is 20-for-98 (.204) with four doubles, seven RBI and nine runs scored.    » read more »

Kansas City Royals Trade Justin Huber to San Diego Padres for a Player to Be Named

Justin Huber, 25, has made brief appearances in the Majors with the Kansas City Royals the past three seasons after being acquired from the New York Mets on July 30, 2004.

SAN DIEGO, 03/25/2008 -- The San Diego Padres today announced plans to recognize survivors and first responders from last fall's wildfires prior to their exhibition game Friday, March 28 (7:05 p.m. vs. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim).

The Padres are providing free tickets to individuals and families whose homes were lost or significantly damaged during the October 2007 devastation. 38 players remain in Major League camp

03/23/2008, PEORIA, Ariz. -- The San Diego Padres announced today that they have optioned right-handed pitcher Jared Wells and outfielder Chase Headley to Triple-A Portland. Executive Vice President/General Manager Kevin Towers made the announcement.

Jared Wells made five appearances this spring, going 1-0 with a 5.06 ERA (3 ER/5.1 IP). Chase Headley hit .333 (14-for-42) with three doubles, one triple, four home runs, 14 RBI and eight runs scored in 21 games.

With today's moves, the San Diego Padres now have 38 players in Major League camp, including 33 players from the 40-man roster and five non-roster invitees.
