May 8, 2008 -- SAN DIEGO -- California Attorney General Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced that the San Diego Airport is taking “a key leadership role” in the fight against global warming by agreeing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from its major airport expansion.

Navy to Christen The USNS Amelia Earhart

April 03, 2008 -- The Navy will launch and christen the USNS Amelia Earhart at a 9 p.m. PDT ceremony on April 6, 2008. The christening ceremony for the newest ship in the Lewis and Clark (T-AKE) class of underway replenishment ships will be held at the General Dynamics NASSCO shipyard in San Diego.

California Retail Burglary Scheme Busted in San Diego

December 10, 2007 -- SAN DIEGO — California Attorney General Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced that two Texan shoplifters will be arraigned today on commercial burglary charges for buying and returning $375,000 in stolen goods at retailers including Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Victoria’s Secret and Gap across 34 states.

Commenting on today’s arraignment, Attorney General Brown said, “This was not petty theft—-these sophisticated rip-off artists bought and returned items in 34 states and racked up tens of thousands of dollars on 27 debit cards.”    » read more »

10/08/2007 -- California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today proclaimed a State of Emergency for the City of San Diego in response to Wednesday’s landslide in the Mt. Soledad area. The Governor’s emergency proclamation allows the state Office of Emergency Services (OES) to deploy emergency personnel, equipment and facilities and provide local government assistance under the authority of the California Disaster Assistance Act. It also enables Caltrans to request an emergency declaration from the Federal Highway Administration.    » read more »
