Recovery Putting People to Work on Investments with Long-Term Benefit

Nov. 3, 2009 -- WASHINGTON – The Federal Highway Administration crossed the $20 billion mark in approved obligations for highway, road and bridge projects this week, U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced today. Of the $26.6 billion available for federal highway and bridge projects under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, more than 75 percent has now been obligated.

“Even though winter is right around the corner, highway and bridge projects are still getting underway, creating thousands of jobs and saving thousands more,” said Secretary LaHood. “The Recovery Act is helping repair America’s roads and bridges while putting people back to work.”    » read more »

Wisconsin Governor on ARRA Road, Bridge Projects Bidding Start

June 22, 2009 -- MADISON - Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle today announced a third round of bid openings for road and bridge projects in Wisconsin that will benefit from funds provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Bids will be opened tomorrow, Tuesday, June 23, for 25 state and local road and bridge projects around the state.

Washington Gov. on Poulsbo ARRA Project

June 22, 2009 -- POULSBO – Washington Governor Chris Gregoire, Congressman Jay Inslee, Poulsbo Mayor Kathryn Quade, state Rep. Sherry Appleton, D-Poulsbo, and Kitsap Home Builders Association President Art Castle today announced the award of federal funding for the North Viking Avenue Improvements project.

Funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the $3.8 million project will make this the largest ARRA-funded project in the Olympic Peninsula and the fourth largest ARRA-funded municipal project in the state.

NY Governor on Western New York Stimulus Project

Paving Project to Improve Safety on Route 78 in Erie County

June 22, 2009 -- New York Governor David A. Paterson announced the start of construction on a $648,000 project to repave 1.5 miles of State Route 78, Transit Road in the Village of Depew and towns of Cheektowaga and Lancaster in Erie County. This is the first transportation infrastructure project funded through the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to get underway in Western New York.

The Governor recently certified the project for economic recovery funds, along with 45 other projects for a total of $58 million in ARRA funding for Western New York’s transportation infrastructure. The region is expected to receive $72 million in federal economic recovery funds for highway and bridge projects.    » read more »

Contracts Awarded for 17 Additional North Carolina Highway Projects Funded Through American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

5/29/2009 -- Raleigh -- North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue today announced that contracts have been awarded for 17 additional highway projects funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The contracts total $102.8 million and were awarded by Transportation Secretary Gene Conti to the lowest respective bidder, as required by state law. A list of the projects is attached.

May 28, 2009 -- New York Governor David A. Paterson today announced the start of construction on the $2.4 million project to resurface State Routes 5A and 69 in Oneida County, the first American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) construction contract awarded in the Mohawk Valley.

New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) Utica Regional Director Michael Shamma today broke ground on the project, which was certified by Governor Paterson in March. Crews will resurface eight miles of pavement on Route 69 in the villages of Oriskany and Whitesboro and the town of Whitestown, and Route 5A in the village of Yorkville and town of Whitestown.    » read more »

Iowa Governor Culver Announces $10.5 Million In City Street And County Road Projects

May 28, 2009 -- DES MOINES – Iowa Governor Culver today announced that 11 city street and county road projects valued at more than $10.5 million were let by the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) on Tuesday, May 19, 2009, as part of the third round of local projects funded in total or part through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act).

Acceptance of low-bid proposals and the awarding of contracts are subject to local governmental approval. The low bids for all 11 projects totaled $10,552,566.83. Of that amount, $8,042,051.03 from the Recovery Act has been authorized for the projects. The remaining $2,510,515.80 in project costs will be paid for with other funds.    » read more »

Senator Frank Lautenberg Announces $3 Million In Federal Funding For Improvements to Picatinny Arsenal

May 27, 2009 -- WASHINGTON, DC – Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) today announced New Jersey will receive nearly $3 million in new federal funding for improvements to Picatinny Arsenal as part of the Economic Recovery law signed into law by President Obama in February. The funding will help repair roads and other infrastructure and improve safety on the base.

“Our troops deserve facilities that are safe, secure and support them in their missions,” Sen. Lautenberg said. “These construction and renovation funds will support the critical work done at Picatinny Arsenal and modernize facilities for our armed forces.”

Wisconsin Governor Doyle Announces Over $10 Million in Savings on Bids for Road, Bridge Projects

Washington Governor Chris Gregoire, Sec. Hammond Announce Federal Recovery Awards For Transportation Paving Projects

May 27, 2009 -- GOLDENDALE – Washington Governor Chris Gregoire and the Washington State Department of Transportation Secretary Paula Hammond today announced that Granite Northwest, Inc. was awarded two paving contracts funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

The Yakima-based paving contractor submitted low bids for a $3 million paving contract for 12 miles of US 97 and a $370,000 chip seal paving contract for six miles of SR 14, both in Klickitat County. Both contracts will support an estimated 40 direct and indirect jobs in local communities.    » read more »
