NY Gov. Paterson Announces Plan To Keep Large Trucks Off Local Roads In Central New York And Finger Lake Towns
State Department of Transportation to Develop New Regulations and Enforcement Policy; Plan Would Improve Quality of Life in Affected Areas
May 12, 2008 -- In response to the dangers posed by scores of trucks hauling non-local solid waste across local rural roads in the Finger Lakes and Central New York, Governor David A. Paterson and U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer announced today that the New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) will institute a new policy intended to keep large trucks, with the exception of local pick-up and delivery vehicles, on the National Interstate Highway System. » read more »
Grading the States 2008: Pew’s 50-State Report Card Evaluates States
Washington, DC - March 3, 2008 - All 50 states received report cards today evaluating each state government’s performance in serving the public. Grading the States 2008 is the only 50-state assessment of its kind that evaluates and grades each state based on a range of areas, from budget and finance to roads and bridges. U.S. Department of Transportation Gives South Carolina Go-Ahead to Start Building I-73
Friday, February 8, 2008, WASHINGTON - South Carolina can move forward with plans to build I-73 now that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has approved environmental documents for the project, U.S. Transportation Secretary Mary E. Peters announced today.
With all federal clearances in place, South Carolina can take the next step to explore financing options to start constructing this new section of interstate.
