Philadelphia Phillies Avoid Arbitration with Brad Lidge and Ryan Madson
01/17/2008 -- Right-handered pitchers Brad Lidge and Ryan Madson avoided arbitration by agreeing to one-year contracts with the Philadelphia Phillies, Assistant General Manager Ruben Amaro Jr. announced today.
Brad Lidge, 31, will earn $6.35 million this season, while Madson will earn $1.4 million. Both pitchers also have performance bonuses in their contracts. » read more »

Righthander Kane Davis was designated for assignment. Davis, 32, was signed as a minor league free agent last October. He spent the season with triple-A Ottawa where he went 3-3 with four saves and a 3.06 ERA in 41 relief appearances.
