01/17/2008 -- Right-handered pitchers Brad Lidge and Ryan Madson avoided arbitration by agreeing to one-year contracts with the Philadelphia Phillies, Assistant General Manager Ruben Amaro Jr. announced today.

Brad Lidge, 31, will earn $6.35 million this season, while Madson will earn $1.4 million. Both pitchers also have performance bonuses in their contracts.    » read more »

10/15/2007 -- The Philadelphia Phillies are looking to hire a staff of ballgirls who can represent the organization in media situations as well as perform duties on the field. Resumes are being accepted until Saturday, October 20, for the ballgirl positions. 10/11/2007 -- The Philadelphia Phillies made three transactions today.

Righthander Kane Davis was designated for assignment. Davis, 32, was signed as a minor league free agent last October. He spent the season with triple-A Ottawa where he went 3-3 with four saves and a 3.06 ERA in 41 relief appearances. As a September call-up with the Phillies, Davis went 0-1 with a 5.56 ERA in 11 games.    » read more »

Arizona's Chris Young hit a home run on the first pitch of the game in Chicago Saturday. The Arizona Diamondbacks went on to win, 5-1.
