03/28/2008 -- The Philadelphia Phillies made the following transactions today:
• Right-hander Tim Lahey was claimed off waivers from the Chicago Cubs
• Right-hander J.D. Durbin, infielder Ray Olmedo and outfielder Chris Snelling were outrighted to Triple-A Lehigh Valley
• Infielder Chris Woodward was signed to a Minor League contract
Tim Lahey, 26, went to Spring Training with Chicago Cubs after being selected in December's Rule 5 Draft from Minnesota and appeared in 11 spring games. He was originally drafted by Minnesota in 2004 as a catcher and was converted to a pitcher after that season. Last year between Double-A New Britain and Triple-A Rochester, Lahey went 8-4 with 14 saves and a 3.65 ERA in 52 games. He will wear #33. » read more »
Philadelphia Phillies' Brad Lidge Placed on Disabled List
03/24/2008 -- Righthander Brad Lidge was placed on the 15-day disabled list today, retroactive to March 21, the Philadelphia Phillies announced today. Brad Lidge is still recovering from right knee surgery performed on February 25 and is eligible to be activated on April 5.
Brad Lidge, 31, had not appeared in any major league spring training games, but made two appearances in minor league intrasquad games, pitching a scoreless inning in each.
In other news, lefthander Matt Smith was re-assigned to minor league camp. Matt Smith is still rehabbing from reconstructive surgery on his left elbow, performed in July of 2007.

The following players were optioned to Minor League camp: right-handers Joe Bisenius, Scott Mathieson and left-hander J.A. Happ; and infielder Brad Harman.
The following players were reassigned to Minor League camp: right-handers Ron Chiavacci and Zack Segovia and left-handers Brian Mazone and Joe Savery; catchers Tuffy Gosewisch and Lou Marson; infielders Jason Donald, Mike Cervenak and Andy Tracy; and outfielder Valentino Pascucci.

Philadelphia Phillies Davey Lopes Faces Surgery, Jerry Martin to Fill In
03/03/2008 -- First base coach Davey Lopes will undergo prostate cancer surgery later this month, the Philadelphia Phillies announced today. A full recovery is expected.

02/13/2008 -- Righthander Kris Benson has agreed to terms on a minor league contract with the Philadelphia Phillies with an invitation to major league spring training, Senior Vice President & General Manager Pat Gillick announced today. The contract is pending a physical.
Kris Benson, 33, missed all of last season after having right rotator cuff surgery on March 20, 2007. In 2006, he went 11-12 with a 4.82 ERA in 30 starts for Baltimore. Benson has reached double digits in wins in five of his seven major league seasons and has pitched over 200.0 innings twice. » read more »
