Connecticut Governor Rell Warns of Unhealthy Air Quality, Urges Special Attention for Elderly and Pets
July 9, 2007 -- With today forecasted to be the first day of a multi-day episode of unhealthy air quality in Connecticut, Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell is urging residents with heightened sensitivity to limit their outdoor exposure and released a series of suggestions for coping with the heat and caring for pets during the heat wave.

Report of Rabid Dog a Reminder to Vaccinate Montana Pets
June 22, 2007 -- A report of a rabid dog in Wheatland County has prompted state health officials to remind Montanans to protect themselves and their pets against the deadly disease.
The state Departments of Livestock and Public Health and Human Services were notified this week about the sick animal. A local veterinarian euthanized the dog Tuesday after it showed symptoms of rabies, including frothing at the mouth and walking erratically. It tested positive for the disease at the Montana State Veterinary Laboratory. » read more »

Connecticut Governor Rell Signs Pet Evacuations Bill
May 8, 2007 -- Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell has signed a bill requiring the inclusion of the evacuation of pets and service animals in state and local emergency plans of operation.
"In the past, no provisions were made to safeguard animals and their owners," Governor Rell said. "This law will do so. The elderly and the disabled are the least likely to have the proper means to help themselves and their animals. Special consideration will now be paid to their needs.
