Vandals in Paris Museum Damage Monet Masterpiece

07 October 2007 -- Vandals have broken into a Paris art museum during a street festival and severely damaged a classic by French impressionist Claude Monet.

Officials with the Orsay Museum said Sunday the vandals entered a back door and punched a fist through the 19th century masterpiece The Bridge at Argenteuil, leaving a 10 centimeter gash in the canvas. The intruders fled when they set off an alarm.

Museum officials call the damage heartbreaking, but say the painting can be repaired.    » read more »

Predator draws interest at Paris Air Show

Jun 25, 2007 -- PARIS — Within the United States aircraft coral at the 47th International Paris Air Show one aircraft stands out from the rest. The MQ-1 Predator was the only unmanned Department of Defense aircraft showcased with its entire maintenance crew at the air show here June 18-24.

“Where does the pilot sit” asked an onlooker. There isn’t a seat. The significance of this unmanned aerial vehicle is its ability to protect our Airman by performing without human cargo.    » read more »
