March 13, 2008 -- New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn today announced that they will travel to Belfast, Northern Ireland to attend the US-Northern Ireland Investment Conference on May 8th, 2008. The Mayor will speak at the landmark conference, which is being held on the first anniversary of the St. Andrews Agreement, along side Gordon Brown, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom; Dr. Ian Paisley, First Minister of Northern Ireland; and Martin McGuinness, Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland.    » read more »

20 December 2007 -- A judge has issued a ruling in the 1998 bombing in the Northern Ireland town of Omagh. Defendant Sean Hoey, who faced 56 charges relating to a car bomb that killed 29 people and injured more than 200, has been found not guilty.

A stunned silence in the public gallery of Belfast Crown Court greeted the verdict in the worst bombing during three decades of so-called troubles in Northern Ireland. Electrician Sean Hoey, 38, was accused of being the principle bomb-maker in a group of conspirators.    » read more »

June 19, 2007 -- Belfast, Northern Ireland – In a historic meeting this morning, Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue became the first senior political official from the United States to meet jointly with Dr. Ian Paisley MP MLA, First Minister, and Mr. Martin McGuinness MP MLA, Deputy First Minister, of Northern Ireland.
