Toronto Blue Jays Hire Gary Denbo

10/09/2007 -- The Toronto Blue Jays have completed their coaching staff for the 2008 season after hiring Hitting Coach, Gary Denbo. Denbo, 47, joins the Toronto Blue Jays from the New York Yankees organization where he was the Roving Hitting Coordinator. This is his second Major League position after serving as the Yankees Batting Coach in 2001.

Denbo played four Minor League seasons in the Cincinnati Reds organization after they selected him in the 17th round of the 1983 free-agent draft. In 206 Minor League games, from 1983 to 1986, the Princeton, Indiana native hit .208.    » read more »

New York Yankees Make In-Series Injury Substitution Removing Roger Clemens and Adding Ron Villone

10/08/2007 -- The New York Yankees announced today that they have made an in-series injury substitution, adding LHP Ron Villone to the American League Division Series roster and removing RHP Roger Clemens.

Ron Villone, 37, was 0-0 with a 4.25 ERA (42.1IP, 20ER) in 37 appearances with the New York Yankees in 2007, following his recall from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on May 15. He owns two career postseason appearances, tossing a combined 1.2 scoreless innings (1H, 1BB, 1K).    » read more »

Boston Red Sox Advance, New York Yankees Stay Alive

08 October 2007 -- The Boston Red Sox are going to Major League Baseball's American League Championship series, while the New York Yankees have kept their season alive.

The Boston Red Sox beat the host Los Angeles Angels Sunday, 9-1, to take the best-of-five playoff series in three straight games.

Philadelphia Phillies in Playoffs, New York Mets Out

01 October 2007 -- The Philadelphia Phillies have qualified for Major League Baseball playoffs for the first time since 1993, winning their final game of the regular season over the visiting Washington Nationals, 6-1.

The New York Mets could have tied Philadelphia for the National League East Division and forced a one-game playoff, but they lost at home to the Florida Marlins, 8-1. Mr. Steinbrenner is the General Partner of the New York Yankees and served as a board member of Yankee Global Enterprises LLC, as well as its Executive Vice President and Treasurer. Mr. Steinbrenner is a member of the YES Board of Directors and serves as Chairman and CEO of Steinbrenner Hotel Properties.
