The Detroit Tigers are now within four-and-a-half games of first place Cleveland in the division. The Tigers and Indians begin a crucial three-game series Monday.

Texas Rangers shortstop Michael Young drove in a career-high seven runs, including a go-ahead grand slam in the eighth inning to lead the Rangers to a 11-9 victory over the Oakland Athletics.    » read more »

03 September 2007 (VOA Sports) -- Slugger Hank Blalock hit a go-ahead grand slam in the eighth inning to lead the Texas Rangers to an 8-7 win Sunday over the Los Angeles Angels in a key Major League Baseball contest.

Hank Blalock's fifth career bases-loaded home run gave the Rangers an 8-5 lead. The American League West division-leading Angels pulled to within a run of tying the game in the ninth inning, and had the bases loaded when Garret Anderson struck out looking to end the game.    » read more »

08/31/2007 -- The New York Mets announced today that prior to tomorrow's game against Atlanta, they will recall righthanded pitchers Mike Pelfrey and Philip Humber and select the contract of lefthanded pitcher Willie Collazo from New Orleans (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League.

Pelfrey will wear uniform #34, Humber will wear #49 and Collazo will don #36.

Pelfrey, 23, went 3-6 with a 4.01 ERA in 14 starts this season for New Orleans (AAA). In 74.0 innings, he allowed 74 hits, 35 runs, 33 earned, with 26 walks and 56 strikeouts.    » read more »
