$29 Million in Federal Funds Will Help Repair 19 Red-List Bridges
May 15, 2009 -- CONCORD - New Hampshire Governor John Lynch and Transportation Commissioner George Campbell today announced that federal stimulus funds have made it possible for the state to pay for 35 municipal road and bridge projects across the state. The projects include 22 local bridges, 19 of which are red-listed bridges.
Stimulus funds, in conjunction with highway funds, will make it possible to cover 100 percent of the construction costs for the 35 projects. » read more »

May 15, 2009 -- CONCORD - New Hampshire Governor John Lynch and Attorney General Kelly A. Ayotte today encouraged state, county, local and non-profit agencies to apply for criminal justice grants funded through the federal stimulus act. These grants will be administered by the Attorney General’s Office.
The goal of this funding is to assist agencies and non-profits in the criminal justice community impacted by the recession, which will help to preserve and create jobs.

Accept More Than $38 Million in Education Funds
May 6, 2009 -- CONCORD - New Hampshire Governor John Lynch and the Executive Council today approved $36 million in transportation contracts funded by the stimulus package, which includes a $25.9 million contract for the widening of Interstate-93 in the area of Exit 3 in Windham.
The Governor and Council also accepted more than $39 million in special education and Title I education funding to help local New Hampshire school districts. » read more »

State Will Issue $58 Million in Federal Stimulus Funds for Water System Upgrades Across New Hampshire
April 21, 2009 -- CONCORD - New Hampshire Governor John Lynch and Environmental Services Commissioner Thomas Burack today announced that 108 drinking water and wastewater projects across New Hampshire have been approved for stimulus funding.
The state received $39 million for the Clean Water State Revolving Fund program for grants or loans for municipal wastewater system upgrades, and $19 million for the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund program for drinking water system upgrades. The funds will be matched with low-interest loans from the state’s existing revolving loan funds. » read more »

April 17, 2009 -- (Washington, DC) -- U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood broke ground today on the first New Hampshire road project funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). The project, resurfacing nearly ten miles of heavily-trafficked freeway on NH Route 101, will create and sustain up to 250 direct and indirect jobs. New Hampshire Gov. Lynch Signs Law Allowing Communities To Utilize Federal Stimulus Funds
April 17, 2009 -- CONCORD - New Hampshire Governor John Lynch today signed into law a bill (SB 39) that allows towns and schools districts to quickly utilize federal stimulus funds. The new law gives local government bodies the ability to call special meetings for the purpose of appropriating stimulus money. Previously, towns and school districts had to petition the superior courts to permission to call a special meeting.
The new law requires that there be a seven-day notice period on any special meeting. » read more »

March 24, 2009 -- CONCORD - New Hampshire Governor John Lynch has submitted his Green Jobs Proposal to the Public Utilities Commission, urging that the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Fund be used to create green jobs and help families, businesses and taxpayers save on energy costs.
The fund was created through the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, which New Hampshire joined last year with the support of Gov. Lynch. The Public Utilities Commission issued a request for proposals on the uses of the funds. » read more »

March 19, 2009 -- CONCORD - New Hampshire Governor John Lynch and Transportation Commissioner George Campbell today announced the state Department of Transportation would use a portion of federal stimulus funding to embark on an aggressive road resurfacing program.
In total, the DOT plans to pave nearly 760 miles of roads across all 10 New Hampshire counties this year. Without federal stimulus funding, the DOT would have only been able to contract for 250 miles of road resurfacing. » read more »

NH Governor Announces Inventory of Federal Stimulus Funds Now Online
March 9, 2009 -- CONCORD - New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch today announced that the Office of Economic Stimulus has created and put online at www.nh.gov/recovery an inventory of federal stimulus fund programs.
The inventory includes a one-page sheet on each of the programs that the state is likely to receive funding through; the responsible state agency, where applicable; and the program’s current status. The reports will be updated as the federal government releases more information on the programs.
Much of the funding provided by the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will be distributed through existing grant programs already administered by state agencies. Other funds will be awarded through a competitive bidding process. » read more »
