Trend Data Shows College Graduation Success Rate Improvement

Wednesday, October 3, 2007, INDIANAPOLIS — Division I student-athletes continue to perform well in the classroom, and more of them are graduating from college, according to the latest NCAA Graduation Success Rate figures.

From 1995-2000, Graduation Success Rates increased in many sports, including high-profile men’s sports such as basketball, football and baseball, and high-profile women’s sports such as basketball, ice hockey and soccer. Big Ten Network to Televise 55 Regular Season Women's Basketball Games

New standard set for women's basketball programming

October 3, 2007, CHICAGO –The Big Ten Network will nationally televise more regular season women's basketball games than any other network this season, conference and network officials announced Wednesday. The schedule includes 55 regular season games and nine Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament contests.

NCAA Announces 17th Annual Woman of the Year Finalists

Tuesday, September 25, 2007, INDIANAPOLIS---The NCAA announced today the finalists for the 17th annual Woman of the Year award. This prestigious award honors outstanding female student-athletes who have excelled in academics, athletics, service and leadership, and have completed their collegiate athletics eligibility.

Ron English Named Director of the Division I Men's Basketball Championship

Thursday, September 20, 2007, INDIANAPOLIS -- Ron English, a 22-year veteran of athletics administration, has accepted the position as the Director of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship. He will officially begin his duties on October 15.

English, who has served the Ohio Valley Conference for the past 15 years, most recently as senior associate commissioner for operations and chief operating officer, will direct game operations for all rounds of the championship and will serve as the primary liaison for tournament managers at each site.    » read more »

2008 Men's Frozen Four: Tickets for Division I Men's Ice Hockey Regionals to Go on Sale

Thursday, September 20, 2007, INDIANAPOLIS --- The NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Committee announced dates and times for the start of ticket sales for the 2008 regionals. All regional tickets are being sold as a three-game package from the first sale date at each site through March 23. Thursday, August 30, 2007, INDIANAPOLIS---The NCAA has granted a waiver for the University of Oklahoma to set up a fund to assist with funeral expenses of football recruit Herman Mitchell, who was slain last week in his hometown of Houston.
