DoD Announces Unit For Next Afghanistan Rotation

August 01, 2007 -- The Department of Defense announced today that the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, New York Army National Guard, will deploy in support of Operation Enduring Freedom to train the Afghan National Security Forces. (select) Trulan Eyre and members of the Colorado National Guard on Tuesday to celebrate the homecoming of more than 100 soldiers from the 169th Fires Brigade, who returned to Colorado on July 10 after a 15-month deployment in Iraq. Major Young, 34, of St. Helens, died Tuesday, June 26, 2007 during Dissimilar Air Combat Training, 35 miles west of Tillamook, Oregon. Young was an experienced Oregon Air National Guard F-15 pilot and flew with the 123rd Fighter Squadron, 142nd Fighter Wing (FW).    » read more »

Texas Guard Aviators Responded To Flooded Areas

BURNET, Texas (6/29/2007) - Thursday's rescue by two Black Hawk helicopters unfolded with their preparations at the Austin Army Aviation Support Facility (AAASF).

The crew loaded rescue hoists and conducted pre-flight checks and flew to the airport in Burnet. Then, as aviators-on-call often do, they sat, talked and sipped sodas until it was time to spring into action.
