September 11, 2007 -- MONTGOMERY – Alabama Governor Bob Riley swore in 27 new recruits to the Alabama National Guard during a special ceremony at the State Capitol on the sixth anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

9/9/2007, Raleigh -- North Carolina Governor Mike Easley today put National Guard and swift water rescue units on standby and Department of Transportation recovery crews in place in coastal areas of North Carolina with the arrival of Tropical Storm Gabrielle. The state’s Emergency Operations Center was activated late Friday and continues to closely monitor the storm. Gabrielle is bringing of winds up to 45 mile per hour as it moves up through the Outer Banks from Cape Lookout. August 29, 2007 -- This week, the Army and Navy announced a decrease, while the Marine Corps and Air Force number increased. The Coast Guard number remained the same.
The net collective result is 25 fewer reservists mobilized than last week.
At any given time, services may mobilize some units and individuals while demobilizing others, making it possible for these figures to either increase or decrease. » read more »
