Florida Governor Crist Visits Marley And Me Film Set In Miami

March 28, 2008 -- COCONUT GROVE – Florida Governor Charlie Crist today visited the production set of Marley and Me, a movie inspired by John Grogan’s bestselling memoir about his mischievous dog. Marley and Me is a participant in Florida’s program that rebates film, TV and digital media production companies up to 22 percent of their qualified Florida expenditures as an incentive to produce films and video games in Florida. The Don Davis Entertainment Industry Economic Development Act of 2007 increased the incentive to $25 million. DHS Begins Collecting 10 Fingerprints From International Visitors at Miami International Airport

February 13, 2008 -- Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced today that it has begun collecting additional fingerprints from international visitors arriving at Miami International Airport (Miami). Florida: Miami Pharmacy Owner Sentenced to 4 Years in Prison for Medicaid Fraud

January 29, 2008 -- TALLAHASSEE, FL – Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum today announced that a Miami pharmacy owner was sentenced to four years in prison for his role in a Medicaid Fraud scheme that defrauded the Florida Medicaid program out of more than $400,000. John Darrell Boyd was charged with using his Miami-based pharmacy, Safety Drugs, to fraudulently bill the program for prescription medications primarily for treating organ transplant patients.    » read more »

Coast Guard Searching for Missing Miami Boater

Jan. 26, 2008 -- MIAMI - The Coast Guard is searching for a boater who disappeared from his vessel three miles east of Key Largo, Fla., Saturday afternoon.

Two good Samaritans just off Elliot Key, Fla., located a 25-foot boat with no one aboard heading toward their vessel. They managed to stop the vessel and, after going onboard, located a cellular phone. They called the last number dialed and spoke with a person claiming to be the father of the suspected missing boater, Dan Stonionis, 45.    » read more »
