New law would substantially toughen penalties for drug growers

October 2, 2007 -- TALLAHASSEE, FL - Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum today unveiled a legislative proposal to fight the increasing threat that marijuana grow houses pose to neighborhoods throughout Florida. The Marijuana Grow House Eradication Act also contains powerful child protection provisions including enhanced penalties for those who have a child present at a grow house and enhanced penalties for those who have illegal drugs in close proximity to children under the age of three.    » read more »

Nicole Richie has served her time - all 82 minutes' worth

24 August 2007, Washington (By Ray McDonald) -- The reality show star, Nicole Richie checked into a detention facility in suburban Lynwood, California at 3:15 p.m. on August 23. She was released at 4:37 p.m., "based on her sentence and federal guidelines," according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy Maribel Rizo.

When asked whether Nicole Richie, who is four months' pregnant, spent her sentence in a jail cell, Rizo had no further comment.    » read more »
