Madonna Considering $120 Million 10-Year Record, Tour Deal

11 October 2007, Washington (By Ray McDonald) -- Madonna is reportedly nearing a $120 million recording and touring deal with live entertainment promoter Live Nation Inc.

Speaking on October 10, a person familiar with the contract negotiations said the pop superstar's management last week informed her previous record company Warner Music Group Corp. about the pending action, after the company refused to match the deal.    » read more »

Madonna Among 2008 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Nominees

05 October 2007, Washington (By Mary Morningstar) -- The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced its nine 2008 nominees. They include Madonna, John Mellencamp, the Beastie Boys, Donna Summer, Chic, Afrika Bambaataa, Leonard Cohen, The Dave Clark Five and The Ventures.

The list will be shortened to five finalists after being voted on by musicians, industry professionals and journalists.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on March 10, 2008 at New York's Waldorf Astoria Hotel.

Madonna's Home To Be Visited by Malawi Welfare Official

30 August 2007, Washington (By Ray McDonald) -- The Malawi welfare official tasked with assessing Madonna's fitness to adopt a young African boy will next week visit her London home.

Director Penston Kilembe canceled a visit in May, the first of two court-ordered trips to check on the singer's suitability to adopt David Banda.

Madonna Releases Digital Song Aimed at Raising Awareness About Environment

18 May 2007 -- Madonna has released a new digital song aiming to raise awareness about environmental issues.

Titled "Hey You," the ballad doesn't specifically refer to saving the earth, instead choosing to speak of loving and saving each other.

Produced by Madonna and Pharrell Williams, "Hey You" hit the market May 16. The first one million downloads are free, and Microsoft will donate 25 cents per download to the Alliance For Climate Protection.
