DoD Identifies Two Army Casualties: Michael J. Gabel, 30 and Joshua C. Blaney, 25
December 14, 2007 -- The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
They died in Afghanistan from wounds suffered when their vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device.
The soldiers were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment (Airborne), 173rd Airborne Brigade, Camp Ederle, Italy.
Killed were:
Staff Sgt. Michael J. Gabel, 30, of Crowley, La., who died Dec. 12 at Forward Operating Base Curry, Afghanistan. » read more »
CDC to Begin Testing FEMA Trailers for Formaldehyde
FEMA continues efforts to move residents out of trailers
December 13, 2007 -- (NEW ORLEANS) – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced today that testing for formaldehyde levels in trailers and mobile homes will begin Friday, December 21, 2007. Testing will take place in Mississippi and Louisiana. The testing comes in response to a request from FEMA for assistance in answering questions related to indoor air quality and health in order to answer concerns raised by residents and community members. » read more »
Updated Louisiana Budget Estimates Show Road Home Is Fully Funded; $3 Billion Covers Entire Shortfall
Dec 07, 2007 -- BATON ROUGE - Today Louisiana Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco joined members of the Louisiana Recovery Authority to announce that updated budget estimates for the Road Home show the program is fully funded. Louisiana First State To Receive Coastal Assistance Approval
Nov 29, 2007 -- PAULINA, La. - Louisiana and its coastal parishes will soon share $510 million in federal funding over four years to help offset the impact of outer continental shelf energy production, after Louisiana became the first state to receive approval from the U.S. Department of the Interior for its Coastal Impact Assistance Program plan.
