November 3, 2011 -- WASHINGTON – Mark Gautreau, 50, pleaded guilty today in federal court in New Orleans for shooting two men on the Bonnet Carre Spillway in St. Charles Parish, La., on Aug. 20, 2006, announced the Department of Justice.
WASHINGTON -- Students gathered at NASA's John C. Stennis Space Center in Mississippi will place a long distance call to astronauts aboard the International Space Station at 1:35 p.m. EDT on Thursday, Aug. 18.
Mississippi and Louisiana students in kindergarten through twelfth grade will ask Expedition 28 Flight Engineers Ron Garan, Mike Fossum and Satoshi Furukawa questions related to mass and weight. The experience is designed to enhance the students' understanding of scientific principles, physics and space. Stennis' education office is hosting the call, which will include a video link with the three astronauts and will be broadcast live on NASA Television.

Landrieu, D-La., today announced that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has pledged nearly $62 million in emergency preparedness grants for Louisiana. December 8, 2009 -- NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Louisiana Recovery Authority (LRA) recently announced more than $7.3 million in public assistance grants to fund work necessary to help restore three Katrina-damaged harbors, ports and locks throughout southeast Louisiana.
“This funding supports various types of permanent work necessary to restore crucial structures that support Louisiana’s waterways,” said FEMA’s Louisiana Transitional Recovery Office Acting Director Tony Russell. “Navigational channels and their subsequent facilities are essential aspects of this area’s way of life – economically, industrially and recreationally speaking.”
Dec 07, 2009 -- BATON ROUGE – Today, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal announced that collections from the 2009 Louisiana Tax Amnesty Program have reached more than $450.6 million, and collections from tax settlements have reached $15 million, for a total of more than $465.6 million.
The Department of Revenue put the tally from the amnesty program collections at $450,671,286.89 as of Monday. Those taxpayers who did not meet the requirements of the amnesty program were able to resolve their disputes through settlements with the Department of Revenue outside of the program, and these litigation settlements total $15 million to date.
