08/22/2007, LOS ANGELES -- Former Dodger first baseman Wes Parker has been selected as the greatest defensive first baseman since the inception of the Gold Glove Award in 1957, according to fan balloting sponsored by Rawlings that began in Spring Training. By garnering 53 percent of the vote, Parker beat out, in order, Don Mattingly, Keith Hernandez, J.T. Snow, Vic Power and Bill White for the honor.    » read more »

Rodriguez leads the majors with 39 homers.

08/09/2007, DENVER -- The Colorado Rockies / Los Angeles Dodgers game that was rained out on Friday, July 27 has been re-scheduled as part of a split doubleheader on Tuesday, September 18 at Coors Field. The makeup game is slated to begin at 1:05 p.m. MT, with the second game starting at 6:35 p.m. MT as originally scheduled.

Mark Sweeney, who ranks 2nd in Major League history with 155 pinch hits, leads all big league pinch-hitters in 2007 with 16 hits, 10 walks and six doubles off the bench. 08/09/2007 -- JAMES IS WORTHY: Double-A Jacksonville pitcher James McDonald has proven he belongs since being promoted from Single-A Inland Empire in early July. McDonald has compiled a 5-1 record and a 1.10 ERA in six starts for the Suns. Additionally, he has held opposing batters to a .209 batting average, has gone 3-0 on the road and has fanned 39 batters in 32.2 innings pitched. On July 29, McDonald struck out 11 batters in a season-high 7.0 innings pitched and allowed only four hits on the night.    » read more »

08/06/2007, CINCINNATI -- Tomorrow is National Purple Heart Day as the Cincinnati Reds honor at Great American Ball Park the Combat Wounded Veterans of the Military Order of the Purple Heart.

Prior to Tuesday night's 7:10 p.m. game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Cincinnati Reds will recognize patriots from the Ohio Department of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, including Tom Anderson (World War II), Tony Murphy (Korea), Tony Kohl (Vietnam) and Paul Brondhaver (Iraq).
