The Royals also announced that infielder Jason Smith has accepted an outright assignment to Omaha and will be in spring training as a non-roster invitee. The Royals have a total of 18 non-roster invitees.

11/13/2007, KANSAS CITY -- The Kansas City Royals have announced the Minor League coaching staffs for the 2008 season. The Royals also named their Minor League coordinators for next season.

The coaching staff at Triple-A Omaha remains intact, as Mike Jirschele returns to his managerial post for the sixth consecutive season. The Wisconsin native also managed the O-Royals from 1995-1997. Tom Burgmeier will mentor the pitchers at Omaha for a third straight season. Terry Bradshaw will spend his fifth season as hitting coach for the O-Royals.    » read more »

Oakland A's Colby Lewis Claimed Off Waivers by Kansas City Royals

11/02/2007, OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Oakland A's today announced that right-handed pitcher Colby Lewis was claimed off waivers by the Kansas City Royals.

Colby Lewis split his season between Oakland and Triple-A Sacramento and was 0-2 with a 6.45 ERA in 26 games, one start, in two stints with the A's. He also posted an 8-3 record and a 1.88 ERA in 15 starts with the River Cats. The 28-year old Colby Lewis is now 12-15 with a 6.71 ERA in 72 outings in his Major League career, which also includes stops in Texas (2002-04) and Detroit (2006).
