Jazz Keyboardist Joe Zawinul Dies

12 September 2007, Washington (By Ray McDonald) -- Keyboardist Joe Zawinul, who helped bring electric instruments into the jazz mainstream, died early on September 11 in his home town of Vienna, Austria. He was 75.

A spokeswoman for the Wilhelmina Clinic confirmed Zawinul's death without giving details. Classically trained at the Vienna Conservatoire, Joe Zawinul emigrated to the United States in 1959.    » read more »

'Ms. Behavin' Is Liz Kinnon's Jazz Debut

For keyboardist, composer and arranger Liz Kinnon, raising children while pursuing a career in jazz music was like having two full-time jobs. As VOA's Doug Levine tells us, Liz's two sons inspired her to complete her first solo CD.
