September 19, 2007 -- Washington, DC – In response to reports that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has requested to visit Ground Zero while in New York for the United Nations General Assembly meetings, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton issued the following statement:
"It is unacceptable for Iranian President Ahmadinejad, who refuses to renounce and end his own country’s support of terrorism, to visit the site of the deadliest terrorist attack on American soil in our nation’s history."

16 September 2007 -- France's foreign minister says world powers should brace for a possible war with Iran over Tehran's nuclear ambitions.
In an interview broadcast Sunday on French radio and television, Bernard Kouchner said negotiations to resolve the nuclear standoff with Tehran are the top priority.

US Troops Release Seven Iranians Held in Iraqi Capital
29 August 2007 -- The Iranian embassy in Baghdad says U.S. troops have freed seven Iranians hours after detaining them at a hotel in the Iraqi capital
An embassy official said the men were handed over to Iraqi authorities early Wednesday morning.
American troops raided Baghdad's Sheraton hotel late Tuesday and seized the Iranians. Video footage also showed soldiers leaving the hotel with what appeared to be luggage and a laptop computer bag.
The Iranian embassy said those detained included an embassy staffer and six members of a delegation from Iran's Electricity Ministry. » read more »
German Orchestra Visits Iran
27 August 2007 (By VOA News) -- A German orchestra is to perform this week in Iran in a rare visit by a European ensemble to the country.
The Osnabrueck Symphony Orchestra will play works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Elgar in Tehran Wednesday and Thursday.
The German orchestra is performing in Iran as part of an exchange that saw the Tehran Symphony Orchestra perform last year in Osnabrueck.

Iran, IAEA Make Progress in Nuclear Talks
21 August 2007 -- Iran and the U.N. International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) say they have agreed on a timetable for Tehran to clear up outstanding questions about its controversial nuclear program.
IAEA Deputy Director Olli Heinonen and Iranian nuclear negotiator Javad Vaeedi announced the agreement Tuesday after two days of talks in Tehran.
Vaeedi said the talks produced great results.
Neither side gave details on the timetable agreed to in the talks, which came ahead of an IAEA report on Iran that is due for release next month. » read more »
