August 16, 2007 -- It's hard to find an issue Mitt Romney hasn't flip-flopped on, but on immigration reform, the smooth-talking presidential candidate has a particularly notorious record. Despite launching a new ad in Iowa yesterday saying "amnesty will not work" and talking tough on the campaign trail, Romney supported the Bush-McCain immigration proposal in 2005, and even supported a "path to citizenship" as recently as 2006. August 16, 2007 -- New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg today hosted a reception at Gracie Mansion to celebrate The 40th Anniversary of the West Indian-American Day Carnival and Parade. The parade is a Labor Day tradition that began in Harlem in the early 1920s and moved to Brooklyn in the mid 1960s. Edmar Alves Araujo, 34, died Tuesday after being picked up after a routine traffic stop. 10 August 2007 -- Mexico is demanding the United States conduct an investigation following the shooting death of a man who allegedly tried to cross the border into the U.S. illegally.

U.S. authorities say a border patrol agent shot and killed a suspected smuggler of illegal immigrants on Wednesday at the fence that separates the southern U.S. city of El Paso, Texas, from Mexico. U.S. authorities say the man tried to hit the agent with a rock and was holding bolt cutters in his other hand.    » read more »
